Clinical and cytopathological traits of herpes zoster: A report of two cases

Introduction: Varicella zoster virus is a highly infectious a-herpesvirus, pathogenic only to humans. The primary infection of varicella causes chickenpox, which contagious and primarily infects children adolescents in India. Following the infection, remains dormant sensory root ganglia. Activation later stages life herpes may vary from subclinical typical zoster, scattered vesicles, sine herpete or disseminated depends on individual's immune status. Case report: In this case series, we present two patients with involving mandibular branch trigeminal nerve. Cytology revealed characteristic features including nuclear moulding, multinucleated giant cells ballooning degeneration. Conclusion: More recently, presenting have been reported sub-clinical Covid-19 suggesting possibility that might be an indicator for latent Covid-19. Timely detection treatment can reduce risk post herpetic neuralgia.
